Description
1961 Duke Snider Game Used Bat Signed by Los Angeles Dodgers Team, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. Along with Willie and Mickey, the original owner of this bat formed a triumvirate of center field legends that helped establish the Big Apple as the center of the baseball world in the 1950's. The presented lumber dates to the fourth season of west coast residency for Dem Bums, one that saw the Dodgers fall four games short of the Cincinnati Reds in the National League pennant race to narrowly miss another Fall Classic meeting with the mighty Yanks. Though Snider had relinquished his starting center field role to a young Willie Davis, he remained one of the team's leading offensive threats at age thirty-four, his sixteen home runs bested only by starters Roseboro and Moon.We see evidence of that Hall of Fame-caliber power in the presented Hillerich & Bradsby signature model C117L, exhibiting excellent use in the form of ball marks, stitch impressions and light grain swelling. Snider's classic criss-cross grip tape pattern remains at the uncracked handle. Number "4" appears in marker on the knob and barrel end, the former likewise bearing a handwritten "33" to indicate the bat's weight in ounces. Length is thirty-five inches.
Seventeen bold black marker signatures complete this delectable package, with featured autographs including Snider himself, Durocher, Drysdale, Koufax, Lasorda, Alston, Hodges, Newcombe, Davis, Moon and more. A splendid representation coming up just a half-point short of expert John Taube's highest possible assessment. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
