    Description

1961-63 Yogi Berra Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8.5. Three American League flags and two World Championship rings (the ninth and tenth of Yogi's career) were claimed during the three seasons of potential service for this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby B261, wielded by the beloved Yankee during his last stand of playing service in the Bronx. Though Berra remains a fixture in the pinstriped family, his familiarity shouldn't cloud the fact that very few of his game used bats have made it into the collecting hobby. Here we present one of the finest we've encountered, exhibiting "excellent use" by expert John Taube's discriminating standards. Ball marks and stitch impressions coat the barrel, along with blue bat rack streaks and a light coating of pine tar on the handle. The weight in ounces, "33 3/4," appears in vintage marker on the knob along with a cryptic "3Y," believed to be some sort of personal code for the bat's priority in game use. Length is thirty-five inches. A personal endorsement appears in 10/10 black sharpie on the barrel, as the original owner writes, "My Game Bat, Lawrence Peter Berra." LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph).

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
