1961-63 Roger Maris Game Used Bat. "After a thorough examination of this Roger Maris professional model bat and its player use characteristics," states the PSA/DNA letter of authenticity, "it is our opinion the bat is authentic, and was used by Maris during the referenced labeling period." And what a period it was! A Home Run throne, an American League MVP and two World Championship rings were the spoils of war claimed by Rajah during the action-packed three-season span in which the presented signature model Hillerich & Bradsby A92 gained its "outstanding use," as characterized by expert John Taube. He dismisses an abnormality in weight, a heavy thirty-six ounces, as not uncommon for the Louisville Slugger factory, stressing that the thirty-six inch length and flame-burned finish perfectly match ordering records. Barrel exhibits slight checking and some unidentified staining, and the handle remains uncracked. A half century later, that special era in Yankees history still captures the imagination, and this bat will always keep it close at hand for the winning bidder. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 6.
