1955-57 Willie Mays Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 7.5. One of just four players in Major League history with keys to both the 3,000 Hit and 500 Home Run clubhouses, Willie Mays also brought one of the game's best gloves to the outfield, putting him high on the short list of greatest ballplayers ever. Here we present a tool from the offensive half of that equation, exhibiting use characterized as "excellent" by authenticator John Taube. The block-lettered Hillerich & Bradsby S2 matches Mays' factory ordering records in its model number and specifications of thirty-five inches and thirty-two and a half ounces, favored during a tremendously productive time in his Hall of Fame career. Deeply imbedded ball and stitch marks adorn the barrel, with some swelling of the grain from Mays' abuse of National League baseballs. Green rack streaks appear, as does pine tar on the cracked handle. A truly pounded workhorse of an early-career gamer from the last years at the Polo Grounds. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 7.5.
