    Description

1954-57 Hank Aaron Game Used Bat. Rare and historic rookie era bat was utilized by the youthful Hammerin' Hank as he began his inexorable climb toward baseball immortality. According to the man who personally owned it for half a century, the bat was used by the young Milwaukee Braves slugger during a visit to the Phillies' Connie Mack Stadium in the mid-1950's, and abandoned after a handle crack ended its apparently lengthy term of service. The owner's sister had been an employee at the ballpark at the time, and retrieved the bat as a gift for her brother. The block-lettered Adirondack 63A exhibits outstanding use, with a multitude of ball marks coating the left, right and back barrel. Cleat marks join blue and red bat rack streaks on the battered surface, and light pine tar visible on the professionally repaired handle. Length and weight of thirty-five inches and thirty-three ounces perfectly match factory ordering records. A bold blue sharpie signature on the barrel was provided by Aaron in 1995, and a photograph from that signing is included. Deemed perfect in every categorization of historical positioning, provenance, physical attributes and game use, the bat garners an appropriate rating of GU 10. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
