    Description

1950 Ralph Kiner Game Used Bat Inscribed & Signed to Al Lang. Anybody who's been to spring training down in Florida should know the name Al Lang, the early St. Petersburg mayor instrumental in luring the New York Yankees, and later many other clubs, to the Tampa Bay area and the waterfront ballpark that bears his name. Almost three decades after signing a contract to make his city the permanent spring training home of the Yankees, Lang was still making friends in the baseball world, a fact made apparent by the inscription on the presented signature model G69L Hillerich & Bradsby once owned and operated by star slugger Ralph Kiner. Faded (3/10) black ink delivers the message "To Al with Best Wishes, Ralph Kiner." Just above that inscription is a much bolder one from Lang himself, who in turn gifts the bat to a friend with the words "To My Pal John Oliver III from Uncle Al Lang." The thirty-five inch bat tips the scales at a Ruthian forty ounces and exhibits evidence of heavy use. Multiple ball and stitch marks coat the barrel, along with a supply of green bat rack streaks. Kiner's number "4" is written in marker on the knob along with "41," indicating weight in ounces (bats often lose an ounce or two through drying over the years, accounting for the discrepancy with current weight). Bat is uncracked and earns an impressive GU 9 rating from PSA/DNA. A splendid representation from the fifth of seven consecutive seasons atop the National League long ball ladder. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
