1949 Ted Williams Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9--MVP Season! With a new salary of $100,000 in 1949, the greatest hitter that ever lived validated that claim (and the BoSox' lofty expenditure) with American League-leading tallies in home runs (43) and runs batted in (159), missing out on the Triple Crown by .0002 to George Kell's virtually identical .343 batting average. He'd reach base in an incredible eighty-four consecutive games, a Major League record that stands to this day, and pass Jimmie Foxx on April 28th for most home runs as a Red Sox, a title that likewise endures. He'd easily claim his second and final MVP Award for his profound dominance of the 1949 Junior Circuit.The offered signature model Hillerich & Bradsby W155 exhibits spectacular game wear from that season for the ages, the barrel swollen by the impacts that led to an American League-leading (and career-high) 368 total bases, and the cracked and pine-tarred handle quite effectively repaired with vintage nails.
