Description
1949 Enos Slaughter Game Used Bat. A year after his "Mad Dash" in Game Seven of the World Series served to extend the fabled "Curse of the Bambino" for the long-suffering Red Sox, Slaughter stepped to the plate with this fine signature model Hillerich & Bradsby S166 in his hands. Top authenticator John Taube describes the use as "outstanding," noting ball and stitch marks, and black bat rack streaks on the barrel. Nine small nails repair a handle crack, and the vestiges of an ancient tape repair job are visible, though the tape itself is long gone. Length and weight are thirty-five inches and thirty-two ounces respectively. The wood has taken on the gorgeous vintage patina of antique furniture, and simply could not be more attractive. A flawless blue sharpie signature from Country himself is the cherry on top. A magnificent specimen earning a grade of PSA GU 6. LOA from Taube & Malta. LOA from James Spence Authentication. LOA from PSA/DNA.Auction Info
