Description

1948 Larry Doby Game Used Rookie Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8. Rookie lumber derives from the Jackie Robinson of the American League, a man who integrated the Junior Circuit just three months after the Brooklyn Dodgers legend took his brave first steps. While Doby technically debuted in 1947, his twenty-nine games of action that year would fall short of a full rookie campaign, allowing us to assign that designation to the provided block-lettered Hillerich & Bradsby S2. The bat shows heavy use from what would prove to be Doby's sole season north of .300, with multiple ball marks and stitch impressions. Handle is uncracked. Length is thirty-five inches, weight thirty-three ounces, each correct for Doby's factory ordering records. The bat was purchased from a former pro ballplayer in Doby's Richmond, Virginia hometown, given to that man by Doby himself. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.
