Joltin' Joe lives up to his nickname...

1948 Joe DiMaggio Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9.5. "DiMaggio was the greatest all-around player I ever saw. His career cannot be summed up in numbers and awards. It might sound corny, but he had a profound and lasting impact on the country." It was the great Ted Williams who made this assessment, a man whose own brilliance was consistently measured against that of his Yankee counterpart. While Williams was a single-minded workhorse, DiMaggio made the game seem easy, working the lumber and the leather with a calm fluidity that bordered on the magical. Born to poor Italian immigrants, DiMaggio would rise to the heights of achievement and celebrity, effectively serving as the living embodiment of the American dream.

Presented is an essential tool in the construction of the DiMaggio legacy, a signature model Hillerich & Bradsby D29L format which served as his weapon of choice in the closing years of his Hall of Fame career. The experts at PSA/DNA assess game use as "heavy," noting plentiful ball marks and deep stitch impressions. Blue and green rack streaks stripe the barrel, while a slight crack to the pine-tarred handle has been professionally repaired. The experts rave over the "perfect player characteristics," noting that all contact appears above the facsimile signature, correct for Joltin' Joe's label-up, right-handed swing.

The D29L model debuted during the last of the three-year center brand format, assuring that this lumber dates to DiMaggio's spectacular 1948 campaign, one in which he narrowly missed repeating as American League MVP and claiming its Triple Crown (39 home runs, 155 RBI's). Length and weight are thirty-six inches (36") and thirty-six ounces (35.7 oz.) respectively. Unquestionably one of the finest DiMaggio bats in the hobby. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5.
