1947-48 Tom Henrich Game Used Bat. Signature model Hillerich & Bradsby D29 dates to the most productive offensive era in Old Reliable's career, a two-year span during which the Yankees star posted top ten numbers in singles, doubles, triples, home runs and runs batted in, earning well-deserved All-Star nods both seasons. Tremendous use suggests that this lumber was instrumental in those remarkable numbers. A ten-inch sliver of wood shattered off the back of the barrel (not affecting display), and a handle crack is repaired by ancient nails. Ball marks coat the barrel, and blue bat rack marks and antique pine tar remnants are also apparent. The bat perfectly matches Henrich's preferred specs of thirty-six inches and ounces respectively. Graded GU 5, though authenticator Taube notes that this rather stingy score is the result of condition--as a scarce bat showing superior use, this is a tough one to top. LOA from Taube & Malta. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500.
