    Description

1941-42 Joe DiMaggio Game Used Bat. Signature model Hillerich & Bradsby dates to the apex of the Yankee Clipper's brilliance, as a factory-stamped "35 1/2" in the knob attests. This notation, designating the weight in ounces, narrows the possible date of production to a two-season span that featured DiMaggio's historic fifty-six game hitting streak, an American League MVP Award, two pennants and one World Championship. The thirty-six inches of well-used ash exhibits a scattering of ball marks and stitch impressions that are attributable to Major League action, but considerable post-DiMaggio use is apparent as well, and the main factor in limiting the PSA/DNA grade to a still-respectable GU 6. The bat remains solid and uncracked, with DiMaggio's facsimile signature on the barrel still boldly proclaiming its original ownership, and proudly boasting of participation in the prettiest swing in the game's history. A fine companion to the 1927 Babe Ruth bat which sold in the Heritage 2012 "Platinum Night" auction for close to $400,000. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 6.
