    Description

1936-37 Charles Gehringer Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8.5. The two-season production era of this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby matches exactly the two finest seasons of the Mechanical Man's career, campaigns in which he posted averages of .354 and .371 respectively, the latter good enough for both the American League batting championship and the MVP Award. Gehringer averaged well over 100 runs batted in per season during this white-hot period, essentially ensuring his future Hall of Fame induction.

The experts at PSA/DNA assess game use as "outstanding," referencing a wide array of ball marks, cleat divots, barrel scoring and original handle tape. Gehringer's jersey number "2" appears in marker on the knob. Handle crack has been professionally repaired. Length just under thirty-five inches (34.75") and weight of thirty-five ounces (35 oz.) match factory ordering records for this important age. A period signature is visible only with the assistance of a spectrometer, but even more firmly places the bat into Gehringer's hands. Arguably the finest example extant of a great hobby rarity. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.5.
