Description
1932-35 Jimmie Foxx Game Used Bat. Historic lumber dates to a possible four-season span that stands in history as the finest of not only Foxx' Hall of Fame career, but that of just about any slugger not wearing Yankees pinstripes. Only in 1934, when Lou Gehrig took the prize, did Foxx fail to lead the American League in long balls, and the first two of Foxx' three MVP awards likewise were celebrated during this era. As such, this Kren's Special bat, exhibiting use characterized by expert John Taube as "excellent," ranks among the most desirable Foxx representations ever made available for private sale.Though batmaker Joseph Kren never achieved the household-name status of Louisville Slugger, his Syracuse, NY factory created gamers from many of the elite stars of the sport--Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby and Ott to name a few. Kren's factory ordering records have been lost to history, but it is noteworthy that the thirty-five inch length and thirty-six ounce weight perfectly match Hillerich & Bradsby specs, as do the handle, knob and barrel dimensions, leading Taube to state that "the bat is authentic and was used by Foxx during the referenced labeling period."
Ball marks dot the right and left barrel, and cleat marks are scattered throughout. Lathe marks on the knob further authenticate the bat as professional issue. A remarkable, Cooperstown-quality relic from a period of rapid ascent toward Babe Ruth's 500 Home Run Clubhouse. LOA from PSA/DNA.
