    1928-30 Honus Wagner Game Used Coach's Bat. Hillerich & Bradsby labeling dates this important lumber to the Old Dutchman's mid-fifties, a decade after he hung up his Hall of Fame spikes. Of course it's well documented that Wagner lent his skills to the coaching profession following the close of his playing career, and this signature model gamer exhibits heavy use from that period. The authenticating paperwork makes note of "heavy use with a handle crack and four and a half inch piece missing and severe checking (grain separation) on the back barrel." It also notes four vintage nails used to repair the barrel, and missing wood on the knob and barrel end. Despite these imperfections, the fact remains that this bat did see action in the hands of one of the game's most noteworthy figures, and as such it offers a rare chance to possess a genuine Wagner bat at a price significantly below that which one of the few playing-days models would command.
