    Description

1926-41 Paul Waner Professional Model Game Used Bat. Tough early "Kren's Special" bat is identified on the barrel as "Waner Style," but attributed to the larger of the two Poisons through the specifics of its dimensions. Though shipping records for Kren's do not exist, it is well established that the factory did supply professional model bats to the Majors, and while the absence of records limits the prospects for definitive attribution, MEARS notes that the thirty-two ounce weight and thirty-four inch length of the bat are within Paul Waner's established Hillerich & Bradsby specs. The bat earns five points for fidelity to Waner's preferred dimensions and three more for heavy use, with a point lost for divots to the barrel and another for the restored knob, accounting for the final A6 score. A marvelous relic from the glorious fraternal Hall of Fame partnership that made the Pirates a contender in the Twenties and Thirties. LOA from MEARS, A6.
