    Description

1922-25 Harold "Muddy" Ruel Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 8. Harold "Muddy" Ruel was a dependable backstop who lasted nineteen years as a catcher. The defensive whiz was also a part of some of baseball's famous and infamous games. He was the catcher when Carl Mays' pitch killed Ray Chapman. He also caught Walter Johnson's final game. But Ruel's career highlight occurred when he scored the winning run of the 1924 World Series. Ruel used this uncracked Hillerich & Bradsby bat (34.5" and 36.4 ounces) between 1922-25. John Taube classifies the use as "outstanding." Grain swelling and moderate checking (secured with four nails, are found on the barrel region. About 4.5" of spiral tape is featured on the handle. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 8.
