1908 Ty Cobb Pro Model Bat, Game Used. The unusual construction of our lot title is intended to direct the bidder's attention to the fact that use by Cobb himself cannot be definitively attributed, nor could the possibility be entirely eliminated. The experts at PSA/DNA properly attest that the lack of logo stamping on this Ty Cobb Spalding Autograph bat would indicate the bat was produced for professional use; retail models bear the knob stamping absent here. They also note that the bat's thirty-three and three-quarter inch length is due to a shortening of the barrel, and thus may have originally been proper for Cobb's preferred thirty-four and a half. But the lack of Cobb characteristics, notably absent handle tape and cleat marks, must likewise be addressed. Even lacking the touch of the Peach himself, this is a rare and highly collectible slab of lumber, and one that allows us to dream of what would surely be the hobby purchase of the year could a connection to the Hall's first occupant be confirmed. LOA from PSA/DNA.

I am completely satisfied, more to the point, absolutely ecstatic, about not only the proceeds but the wonderful professional manner every aspect of my little consignment was handled.
