He played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies from 1965 to 1984, famously helping the Mets win the 1969 World Series and closing out the Phillies' first championship in 1980. McGraw popularized the phrase "Ya Gotta Believe," which became a rallying cry for Mets fans.
