Description

Late 1940's Eddie Collins Single Signed Baseball. Despite a full quarter century in a Major League uniform and the brand of baseball brilliance which would typically attract swarms of autograph seekers, Collins remains an enormously challenging hurdle for collectors of Hall of Fame single signed baseballs. It's a bit of a mystery, actually, that so few could exist. Our comprehensive auction results database indicates only a single sale by any major house in the past dozen years. So there's no question the collecting world is anxiously awaiting another crack at ownership, which we present with this late 1940's model of OAL (Harridge) ball. The original "Fast Eddie" provides a 7/10 sweet spot signature in his distinctive loopy style. Imperfect shellac application and a small degree of water staining is to be noted, but our catalog imagery should illustrate that any such flaws are easily forgiven in light of the tremendous scarcity. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
