Eddie Mathews Single Signed Baseball. Eddie Mathews was a Hall of Fame third baseman known for his powerful bat and role as one of the greatest home run hitters of the 1950s and 1960s. Playing primarily for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves (1952-1966), he hit 512 career home runs, making him the first third baseman to reach the 500-homer mark.
