Description
Circa 1960 Wilcy Moore Single Signed Baseball, 1927 New York Yankees. In the past decade, just one example of a Wilcy Moore single signed baseball has come to auction, a version far inferior to this one, and it still garnered close to five figures. While Moore only pitched for six years, five of those were with the New York Yankees, including a stellar rookie campaign in 1927 with the finest team ever assembled. Moore went 19-7 with a league-leading 2.28 ERA as well as leading the league in saves. Although he never went on to repeating those types of numbers, he remained a workhorse, starting another 15 games and finishing 31 for the Red Sox in 1931. Retiring in 1933 as a Yankee again, Moore's career ended with just over 50 wins and a 3.70 ERA.This Wilson Official Major League baseball dates from the late 1950's or early 1960's (Moore died in early 1963) and has an even light tone to it. One side panel shows slight scuffing and has a toning spot, while the rest of the ball would rate strongly. The just-left-of-center sweet spot signature is a solid 7/10 and the stronger of the two known examples. COA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
