Description

Circa 1932 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. The appearance of the great Bambino upon an Official National League baseball dating to the presidency of John Heydler assures playing days vintage, as Ford Frick would take over duties as head of the Senior Circuit at the close of the 1934 season. We're then led rather reasonably to the assumption that this magnificent 8.5/10 black fountain pen signature applied to the ball's sweet spot was acquired by a fan attending one of the many World Series in which the game's greatest calling card found himself a participant. The enormous proportions of the autograph--one could call it downright "Ruthian"--suggest late career, hence the "Circa 1932" title which would peg the ball to the period surrounding the Babe's historic "Called Shot" home run at Wrigley Field. Of course all of this is mere supposition, but the elite quality of the presented orb is empirical fact. It's one of the nicest Ruth singles to hit the auction block in recent memory, for the collector who demands nothing but the best. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
