Description

Circa 1927 Babe Ruth & Jack Dempsey Signed Baseball. Each the Golden Age god of his respective sport, the Sultan of Swat and the Manassa Mauler were major players in two of the most gripping sports stories of the 1927 calendar year. Ruth, of course, clubbed his record sixty homers en route to the Yankees' second World Championship. And Dempsey cost himself the Heavyweight Championship when he failed to return to his corner after knocking Gene Tunney to the canvas, allowing the latter to regain his senses and ultimately claim the victory in the famed "Long Count" fight. Each signs this heavily toned orb of unknown pedigree (stamping lost to age), their vintage fountain pen ink registering in the range of 6/10 to 7/10 for boldness. It's a toss up as to which athlete was more famous in his day, but their pairing here is a thrill that no collector could debate. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
