Description
Circa 1926 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. The derivation of this ancient sphere from a St. Louis estate, and the presence of the Bambino on a National League ball, suggests strongly that it was one of the Yanks' two Fall Classic contests against the Cardinals that spawned it. Note the black and red stitching, which assures pre-1935 vintage, and the quotation marks around "Babe," which would more likely be attributable to the earlier of the Yanks' two World Series visits in 1926 and 1928. Regardless of the precise birthdate, it's quite an impressive example, with Ruth's black fountain pen offering surviving at an impressive 7.5/10 status on the tobacco colored horsehide. The considerable wear to the ball, which appears to have been suffered prior to the signing--note the scuff under the Babe's surname--likewise leads one to speculate whether this ball actually saw action in one of these historic October contests. An exciting artifact from baseball's Golden Age. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.More information about Babe Ruth Sports Player.
