Circa 1920 Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson & Others Signed Baseball. Though this OAL (Johnson) ball was signed about two decades before the grand opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame, its original owner clearly had a keen eye for talent, presenting it an impressive array of men who would one day be immortalized in Cooperstown bronze. Babe Ruth (3/10) appears on a side panel in his smaller and quotation-marked early format, along with Nick Altrock and Walter Johnson (2/10). Northern panel holds Ty Cobb (1/10) and Stanley Harris (9/10), better known as Bucky to his buddies. We find George Sisler (4/10) on the southern panel with Cecil Travis (signed later, as he played 1933-47), with Clark Griffith (8/10) rounding out the cast on the sweet spot.
