The Babe "Calls his Shot" during his final World Championship season

An Exquisite 1932 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. As the New York Stock Exchange crashed, so did the New York Yankees, or so it seemed to their legions of fans. After three straight pennants and two World Championships, the boys from the Bronx fell like the leaves through three consecutive autumns as the Great Depression took hold, relegated to the role of World Series spectator by the powerful Mackmen of Philadelphia. But the bulging Bambino had one last trick up his pinstriped sleeve as he led the remnants of Murderer's Row to a final American League flag, and the opportunity to create one of the most memorable (and controversial) moments in Fall Classic history.

Folklore or fact, the story of "The Called Shot" at Wrigley Field ranks among the most noteworthy in the Babe's biography, the event most universally referenced in association with the 1932 Major League season. One last World Series sweep was Ruth's parting gift to his adopted Big Apple hometown, his final season of brilliance before a steep and steady decline toward 1935 retirement.

And so, as the great old Yankees team that pulled itself up off the mat after three years of despair to reassert its rightful claim to the Major League throne, the 1932 edition will always hold a special place in our heart. We've encountered no relic that so fittingly commemorates that phoenix from the ashes as the presented OAL (Harridge) ball, signed by twenty-two World Champs. An enormous sweet spot Babe Ruth provides the nucleus, applied in the same 8+/10 and better black fountain pen ink that characterizes the entirety of the signed roster.

Like the team it celebrates, this ball is a true survivor and a fitting reminder that true Champions are not the ones who are never knocked down, but rather those who always get back up.
