Description

1986 NLCS Game Three Walk-Off Home Run Baseball Hit by Lenny Dykstra. If you were a Mets fan back in 1986, this was probably your second most memorable moment of the playoffs after the Mookie/Buckner incident. Down a run in the bottom of the ninth inning and about to drop to a two games to one deficit in the National League Championship Series, the Mets sent Lenny Dykstra to the plate with Wally Backman on first. The home run which would snatch victory from the jaws of defeat would come to be the defining moment of Nails' career, and move the club one step closer toward ultimate World Championship glory.

Presented is the ONL (Feeney) ball that sent Shea Stadium into joyous pandemonium on October 11, 1986, notated in Dykstra's hand as follows: "National League Championship Series 1986, Game Winning Homer Bottom of 9th vs. Houston (D. Smith) Final 6-5 Game 3." The writing is slightly fading in parts but is still easily legible, and the ball shows expected toning and abrasions from its historic game use.
