    Description

1984 Gary Carter 100th RBI Baseball from The Gary Carter Collection. Carter led the National League in runs batted in only once during his career, and this was the year: 106 in total. Presented is the ball that brought him to triple digits, in the most unlikely fashion. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, Carter was drilled by rattled Phillies pitcher Kevin Gross to score Expos pitcher Bryn Smith from third. Carter notates one panel of the well-worn ONL (Feeney) ball, "Sept 7 Mtl vs. Phil, Gary Carter's 100th RBI, HP by Kevin Gross, 2nd 100 RBI Season." Several of Carter's teammates (and Expos broadcaster Duke Snider) autograph adjacent panels, while one playfully writes, "When all else failed, you used your head & took one on the rear..." Autographs average 6/10. Letter of provenance from Sandy Carter. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
