1980's Mickey Mantle "The Commerce Comet" Single Signed Baseball, JSA/Beckett Auto 9. It's a nickname that takes on a dual-meaning here, because Mantle "notation" singles and those in elite grades have been soaring in value in recent years. But here the word "Commerce" relates to Mantle's Oklahoma hometown and "Comet" to his blazing foot speed, creating a moniker that was more common in his early years before he became the wholly owner property of the residents of the Big Apple and, simply, The Mick.We've never encountered a finer example of this rare variation, one entirely worth of its Auto 9 rating from the good folks at JSA/Beckett.
