    Description

1980's Jackie Mitchell The Woman Who Struck Out Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Single Signed Baseball. Baseball is a game filled with tall tales. Did The Babe call his shot? Did Josh Gibson launch a ball out of Yankee Stadium? And did Jackie Mitchell strike out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig? In an exhibition in April of 1931, Mitchell struck out both sluggers as the crowd roared in applause. Baseball commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis forbade women from playing at the big league level a couple of days later. We looked through the archives and could not find another baseball signed by the female pitcher. "Jackie Mitchell Gilbert" graces the horsehide of this OAL (Brown) ball in 8/10 ballpoint ink. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

    More information about Lou Gehrig.
