    Description

1980's Burleigh Grimes Single Signed Baseball. The spitball died with this man, or at least its legal use, as Grimes retired in 1934 with 270 career victories as the last beneficiary of the grandfather exception to the rule that otherwise outlawed the pitch in 1920. Grimes was a member of the 1931 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals and twice led the National League in pitching victories, but it would take three decades of retirement for him to earn his rightful place in the bronze brotherhood of Cooperstown. This ONL (Feeney) sphere bears a 9/10 blue ink signature on the sweet spot. Light toning. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
