1979 Gaylord Perry Game Used Baseball From Win #256. Though he retired with over 300 wins, over 3,500 strikeouts, Gaylord Perry will always be associated with that most curious and naughty of all pitches - the spitball. Even today, the debate still lingers as to whether or not he actually threw it as often as people thought he did. What is not up for debate is the fact that Perry was a highly skilled pitcher who recorded five twenty-win seasons and two Cy Young awards (one in each league).

The OAL (Feeney) ball on offer here was used during Perry's career win #256 and is inscribed in ballpoint "Pitt-3 San Diego-6 6-12-79." Sold recently at auction as part of the Gaylord Perry Collection.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
