    Description

1972 Harmon Killebrew Attributed Career Home Run #526 Baseball--Landed on Comiskey Park Roof!
The Killer had slowed down from his forty-per-season pace of the 1960's by the time he stepped to the plate on July 1, 1972 at Comiskey Park, but the preternatural power remained. Presented is one of the hardest-struck long balls of his career, an OAL (Cronin) launched onto the roof to lead off the top half of the seventh inning in Chicago, the sole run in a five-to-one Twins loss. It would prove to be the 526th of Killebrew's career total of 573 home runs.

The ball was retrieved by the gentleman whose notation adorns the northern panel, reading, "1 July 1972, Over the left field roof, [illegible name]." It was then presented to Killebrew for signing, resulting in a 7/10 sweet spot exemplar. It appears that a dog got a hold of the ball at some point after its brush with greatness, but the unique history is unaffected by this damage. Please note that, while we believe the story and the notation, there is no other documentation substantiating this home run claim. Bid accordingly. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
