Description

1971 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Signed Baseball. The Pirates grabbed the 1971 National League pennant and took momentum into the World Series as they dropped a tough Baltimore team in seven hard fought contests. This Pittsburgh Pirates KDKA Radio 1020 ball is signed by baseball's best of 1971. Most of the autographs rate 5/10 with some a notch above. Roberto Clemente's signature rates 6/10 on this perfect starter ball. Others who signed include: Giusti, Bob Johnson, Ellis, May, Walker, Briles, Cash, Jackie Hernandez, Oliver, Blass, Alley, Murtaugh, Clemente, Virdon, Stargell, Sands and two more. We determined it to be signed by the World Series champions because Danny Murtaugh occupies the sweet spot. Bob Johnson and Charlie Sands for the 1971 and '72 seasons. By 1972, Murtaugh took a year off and served as a scouting director before resurfacing as skipper a year later. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
