1969 Rusty Staub First Home Run with the Montreal Expos Baseball. In the end Montreal just couldn't support a Major League Baseball franchise, but c'est la vie. It was fun while it lasted. It all began on Opening Day 1969, when the Expos enjoyed their only day of the season with a winning record, claiming a thrilling eleven to ten victory over the New York Mets at Shea. Rusty Staub contributed with this ball in the Expos' four-run eighth, a solo shot which represents just the second Montreal home run in franchise history (the first came four innings earlier). His perfect blue ink side panel signature balances his notation on the opposite panel, reading, " Home Run No. 1 as a Montreal Expo Player. Opening Day New York Mets off Alvin Jackson, April 9, 1969." Ball exhibits solid use and is accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Staub's son. Letter of provenance from Daniel Staub.
