Description

1969 Ray Schalk Single Signed Baseball. When Eddie Cicotte and Lefty Williams failed to throw the pitches he called for in the 1919 World Series, Schalk was convinced that something more than poor control was at the heart of the matter. The Chicago catcher, believed by many to be the greatest defensive backstop of his day, remained honest through those dark Black Sox days, paving his way to an eventual Hall of Fame plaque in the process. Schalk signed the side panel of this OAL (Cronin) ball, dated the 8/10 signature "Oct 30-69" and personalized it "to Mike Anderson." Regular toning visible throughout. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
