    Description

One of only two at this grade, none higher!

1956-58 Jimmie Foxx Single Signed Baseball, PSA/DNA NM-MT+ 8.5. He has muscles in his hair," Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Lefty Gomez once said of the prolific slugger who made the 500 Home Run Club a duo during the final week of the 1940 season, joining the Babe in long ball immortality. One of the most feared right-handed hitters in baseball history, Foxx was a key force in breaking the 1920's Yankees' stranglehold on the American League, supplying Philadelphia with three pennants and two World Championships during Connie Mack's second great Athletics dynasty.

Only Mel Ott presents a greater challenge to collectors aiming for a complete run of 500 Home Run Club single signed baseballs, and only one other Foxx specimen can compete with this representation, which shares co-ownership of the top tier of the PSA/DNA population chart. Foxx' sweet spot application remains just as bold as it appears on the day of its application, which we can peg to a three-season span by the "O.M. Hobbs" presidential stamping on the Official Western League baseball that serves as the medium.

The notoriously strict graders at PSA/DNA assign a rating of 9/10 to the Foxx autograph and 8/10 to the ball itself, which remains clean and unblemished, mellowed to an even vanilla tone after nearly six decades of careful storage. A truly elite representation for the uncompromising collector. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, NM-MT+ 8.5. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
