1955 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Signed Baseball with Rookie Roberto Clemente. The Bucs brought up the rear of the National League this season, but nobody cares about that fact because the future was looking particularly bright due to one new arrival. Among the thirty-two signatures applied to this ONL (Giles) ball is that of Roberto Clemente, who signs only his last name--we're used to seeing him sign "Bob" in his earliest days in the Bigs, so this may have been another way to draw attention away from his exotic (for the time) first name.
