Description

1954 Ernie Lombardi Single Signed Baseball. The 1938 National League MVP and 1986 Hall of Fame inductee remains a tough challenge for collectors of Cooperstown singles, due in large part to Lombardi's passing nine years before his enshrinement. They have surfaced at an average of fewer than one a year upon the major auction circuit, so expect spirited bidding for this solid example dated "1954" in an unknown hand. The inscription and sweet spot signature are the legendary backstop's, however, reading, "Best of Luck, Ernie Lombardi." Ink averages 6/10 to 7/10. Ball is a clean "Ralph Kiner League" model. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
