Description

1954 Casey Stengel Single Signed Baseball. Having just skippered his Yankees squad to its fifth consecutive World Championship the previous October, Stengel was surely assigned hero status by the Bronx fans traveling down south to visit their team in training for the approaching 1954 season. One of these fans accosted the Hall of Fame manager with this OAL (Harridge) ball, claiming for the hobby a rare single. Stengel's sweet spot blue ink offering rates an impressive 9/10, with a notation below reading "1954 St. Pete - FLA." Ball shows apparent game use, likely a foul into the spring training stands. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
