Description
1952 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball from The Gene Woodling Collection. The Yankees continued their dominance over the baseball world in 1952. Gene Woodling obtained the thirty-one signatures on this OAL (Harridge) baseball. A top coating was applied to preserve the 8/10 signatures. A few are lesser. Mantle and Stengel share the sweet spot along with one more teammate. Others who signed include: Silvera, Woodling, Rizzuto, Carey, Lopat, Morgan, Miller, Noren, Martin, Hopp, Overmire (only year with team 1951), Sain, Cerv, Brown, McDougald, Schallock, Ostrowski, Kuzava, Hogue, Houk, Raschi, Berra, Reynolds, Brideweser, Collins, Bauer, Mize and two more. "NY Yanks World Champions 5 Times in a Row 1952" is marked on a piece of masking tape on the south panel. Because Overmire has signed the ball, it may have been signed during Spring Training. Overmire was claimed off waivers in May of 1952 by the St. Louis Browns. Letter of provenance from family of Gene Woodling.Auction Info
