Description

1952 Jimmie Foxx Single Signed All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Baseball. It's often been reported that Tom Hanks' character Jimmy Duggan, manager of the Rockford Peaches in the 1992 blockbuster "A League of Their Own," was loosely based upon Jimmie Foxx, who likewise followed a sterling career in the Bigs with a term of service at the reins of an All-American Girls Professional Baseball League team. This is one of the few Foxx-related items that survives from his season with the Fort Wayne Daisies, an ultra-rare baseball of the format used during that 1952 campaign. As some hobbyists may already know, the AAGPBL baseballs were slightly larger than Major League models, so Foxx' 7/10 sweet spot signature has plenty of room to shine. The ball appears to exhibit game use prior to its meeting with Double X, and the stamping of the ball has faded but is still partially legible. An intriguing, and possibly unique, rarity for the advanced collector. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
