Description
1952-56 Bob Shawkey Single Signed Baseball. You could say Bob Shawkey christened Yankee Stadium as he was the first man to throw a meaningful pitch in the new venue in 1923. A member of the legendary 1927 Murderers' Row ballclub and first Yankees championship squad of '23, Shawkey finished his career a few notches below 200 wins. Single signed baseballs of the righty are nearly non-existent as we pulled up only this one in the auction archives from the last decade and a half. Presented is a single-signed OAL (Harridge) baseball penned on the sweet spot by Shawkey along with a "Dartmouth Coach" inscription. A heavy top coating has been applied. The penning rates a solid 8/10. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.Auction Info
