1951 Kansas City Blues Team Signed Baseball With Mickey Mantle. Pegged as the next big Yankees superstar, The Mick hit a rough patch early on and was sent down by the Yankees brass for a little minor league seasoning. Dejected and embarrassed, Mickey Mantle was all set to quit the sport of baseball forever. All it took was for Mutt Mantle to give an impassioned speech to his downtrodden son and all was right in Mickey's eyes. Mickey played for the Kansas City Blues for all of forty games before resurfacing in the Big Apple. Signed during his short minor league stint is this baseball. Most of the legible autographs rate 6/10 on the toned orb. Some of the other pennings are reduced from exposure or to father time. Rostered players from the '51 Blues who we can make out are: Don Bollweg, Bill Ramsey, Kite Thomas, Gene Markland, Cliff Melton and Mantle. The Mantle rates about 6/10. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
