1951 Gene Woodling World Series Home Run Baseball from The Gene Woodling Collection. Gene Woodling did his best to help the New York Yankees stay near the Giants in Game 3 of the 1951 World Series. Trailing 6-1, Woodling clubbed a solo homer off Sheldon Jones in the ninth inning. It wasn't enough as Jones retired the final two hitters in order. This ONL (Frick) ball was launched into orbit at the Polo Grounds by Woodling. Heavy shellac is applied to the ball. The following is written on the relic: "Home Run Ball World Series 1951 Against NY Giants Polo Grounds." A piece of tape has the following scribed: "Home Run Ball World Series 1951 Against Giants." The ball shows use and originates from Woodling's estate. Letter of provenance from family of Gene Woodling.
