    Description

1949 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Despite posting just a single winning season in eight years of Big League managing, Casey Stengel earned the role of skipper of the New York Yankees in 1949 amidst the loud protestations of local sportswriters and fans alike. Come October, however, all Bronx faithful were singing a much different tune, as the Ol' Perfesser led the club to its first of five consecutive World Championship crowns. Here we find twenty-eight signatures from the crew he led to the promised land, applied to an OAL (Harridge) sphere. Notables include DiMaggio (7/10), Mize (7/10), Rizzuto (1/10), Henrich (6/10), Martin (6/10), Reynolds (7/10), Raschi (5/10). All but a couple signatures rate 6/10 or better. Scattered scuffing of the baseball's hide is apparent, but causes little trouble. An imperfect yet entirely respectable specimen. Auction LOA JSA.
