Description

1949 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball with Spider Jorgensen Provenance. The 1949 Dodgers won their second N.L. flag in three years since Jackie Robinson broke the MLB color barrier in 1947. This particular ONL (Frick) derives from Jackie's teammate, John "Spider" Jorgensen, who made his MLB debut on the same day. In fact, as Jorgensen told writer Phil Elderkin, "I came into Ebbets Field on opening day scared to death. I didn't think I was going to play. I didn't have any equipment with me. Then Jackie comes over and says 'Here, use my second base glove.'' Spider had his 1949 Dodgers teammates sign this ball, and it has remained in the Jorgensen family's possession since.

It is signed by thirty-one of Brooklyn's finest, including Hall of Fame inductees Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider and Pee-Wee Reese. Others include Furillo, Newcombe, Labine, Branca, Shuba, Roe, Barney and Chuck Connors who also played with the Boston Celtics and was an actor, most notably as "The Rifleman." The ball is a light cream color and the league stamping remains bold. Meanwhile, the blue ink autographs grade an overall 9/10 in strength. Please note that the sweet spot signature of manager Shotten is a clubhouse version. LOP from Jorgensen Family. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
