Description

1949-51 Max Carey Single Signed Baseball. With a lifetime batting average of .285 and 2,665 hits, Max Carey certainly hit his way into the Hall of Fame. However, that only paints one picture. The other side of the coin is that Carey was also the penultimate base stealer of his day, leading the National League in stolen bases a whopping ten times in a thirteen-year timeframe. His speed also helped him on the basepaths in scoring well over 1,500 runs.

Finding a single signed baseball by Carey can prove to be a difficult chore. Although he lived into the mid-1970's, autograph hounds weren't yet out in full force, so single signed baseballs weren't a popular medium yet for signatures. We are pleased to present one of the finest singles of Carey. This Spalding ONL (Frick) sphere exhibits even toning and boasts a large and bold blue ink autograph, on the panel directly above the league stamping, which grades an 8/10 in strength.
