    Description

1948 Last Out Baseball From Boston & Cleveland Tie Breaker Game - First Ever One Game AL Playoff. American League baseball history was forged October 4, 1948 when the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox met in the first-ever tie-breaker game. This was the first taste of postseason baseball for Cleveland fans since 1920 mind you. Four runs in the fourth inning elevated the Indians to an 8-3 win. Playing first base for the Indians that day was Eddie Robinson. Robinson secured the final out and kept the baseball. With authentication from the man himself is this fabulous orb. "Last Ball Caught in Play off Game Between Cleveland and Boston for American League Pennant." is scripted on one side panel while "Cleveland won 8-3 Bearden-winner Galehouse-Loser" is crafted on a separate side panel. At some point a top coating was added to the ball, giving it a toned look. A mounting hole is found on the ball as well. The stampings have faded through time. Letter of provenance from Eddie Robinson.
